Best Solar Panels in the Philippines — 2026 Guide

Not all solar panels are equal. Here is what actually matters when choosing panels for a Philippine home — and which brands consistently perform best in our climate.

Start here: always specify Tier 1

The solar industry uses a tier system — defined by BloombergNEF — to classify panel manufacturers by financial bankability: specifically, whether commercial banks have financed utility-scale projects using their panels. This is the single most important decision you make when buying solar.

Tier 1

Manufacturers rated financially bankable by BloombergNEF based on utility-scale project financing by commercial banks. Financial stability is the key differentiator — it means they are far more likely to still exist and honor their warranties in 10, 15, or 25 years. Examples: Jinko, Trina, LONGi, Canadian Solar, REC.

Always specify Tier 1 for residential installations.

Tier 2

Smaller manufacturers that may produce decent panels but lack the financial stability to back long-term warranties. Panels may be fine, but warranty claims in 15 years are uncertain.

Acceptable for temporary or commercial installations with short ROI horizons.

Tier 3

Unknown brands, often rebranded Chinese panels without traceable manufacturing. Warranties are effectively worthless. Performance degrades faster than stated.

Avoid entirely for residential use.

Key specifications to understand

Efficiency (%)

How much sunlight is converted to electricity. Higher efficiency = more power from the same roof area.

Target: 21%+ (Tier 1 standard today)

Temperature coefficient (%/°C)

How much output drops as temperature rises. Important in the Philippine climate.

Target: Below -0.35%/°C. Lower is better.

Degradation rate (%/year)

How much output decreases each year. Affects your 25-year savings significantly.

Target: 0.4–0.55%/year (Tier 1 standard)

Product warranty (years)

Covers manufacturing defects and physical failures.

Target: 12–15 years minimum (Tier 1 standard; some premium models offer 25yr)

Performance warranty

Guarantees minimum output at Year 25 (typically 80–82%).

Target: 25–30 years, 80%+ at end of warranty

Cell technology

N-Type (TOPCon, HJT) panels outperform older P-Type panels in heat and low light.

Target: N-Type TOPCon or HJT for Philippine conditions
